Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies
In recent years, Jamaica has seen significant impacts on its resources and natural environment from human activity and natural catastrophes. Environmental issues such as global warming, deforestation and improper garbage disposal have wrought immense strain on our environs and man's ability to sustain himself in the future. In light of these circumstances, Environmental Studies programmes are necessary to reverse the current trend of environmental degradation and create a balance which is needed for man's existence worldwide.
The goals of the programme in Environmental Studies are to:
- Produce skilled environmentalists
- Ensure that the Jamaican population is extensively environment literate and demonstrates a responsible attitude towards the environment
- Protect the environment of Jamaica with respect to human activities and natural catastrophes
- Ensure sustainable development
- Empower students to solve problems within their own environment and contribute to the global well-being of flora and fauna
The Moneague College has molded me into a more focused, goal oriented and self disciplined individual. It has expanded the way I receive, interpret and apply knowledge received or earned. If I should go back and do it all over again, I would still choose The Moneague College.
