About Our IT Programme

The Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology is part of a 2+2 curriculum arrangement where the first two years are completed as the Associate Degree in Information Technology. Therefore, a student in the first year of the Bachelor’s degree programme will have previously completed two years’ of study and would then be equivalent to a third year student in a Bachelor’s degree programme that has only the one exit point

The programme design recognizes that the use of Information Technology is an integral component of all businesses; and as such, the curriculum provides students with opportunities to apply theory to practice using a range of skills that can be applied in different industries. The curriculum design also recognizes the importance of job creation to the development of and so students are taught to set up and manage a small business

The programme is structured to provide a mixture of:

  1. General education courses
  2. Support courses
  3. Specialized courses
  4. One free elective 4
  5. Work experience
  6. Community service

 

Career Outlook:

Upon successful completion of this two year programme graduates will be able to

  1. Integrate systems that will work together to provide Information Technology solutions in different organizational contexts
  2. Provide technical support services
  3. Design, develop, implement and test software applications and web-based applications
    incorporating Network Security best practices.
  4. Use a variety of information and communication technology applications and tools to solve
    organizational problems in different organizational contexts.
  5. Prepare user and system documentation
