Greetings Everyone!
My name is Claudette Nolan, the Dean for the Faculty of Science and Technology.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the Moneague College. Thanks for making our institution your college of choice. An extra special welcome to you, my FST students.
First let me congratulate you on your achievements thus far. For your results in your CSEC and CAPE examinations, for making the bold decision to start this exciting and challenging journey of college education at this time and for gaining acceptance to this our noble institution, a hearty congratulation!
Please allow me to give a brief overview of the structure of our faculty. FST is the faculty that caters to all your science and technological learning needs within the institution. Our vision is to offer up-to-date and flexible programs which will advance the quality and impact of our clients’ educational experiences. To this end, we strive to provide a hands-on approach in teaching our courses with a view of improving our position both nationally and internationally.
Our mission is to provide an educational experience that is readily adaptive to the changing needs in the field of Science and Technology, provide our clients with sufficient understanding and experience of the sciences that will enable them to be fully functional and great innovators in an advanced technological society, while ensuring that accredited programs and professional certification opportunities are available to aspiring scientists internationally, to add value to their lives, communities and ultimately, the world’s economy.
Additionally. in this time of virtual learning, when you are alone in your learning environment, it is especially important to seek help. Ensure you join a class chat group where you can share information and ideas. Form small productive study groups in order to reinforce concepts. Always seek clarification on challenging concepts and reach out to your lecturers for additional explanations where needed.
When faced with the many challenges along your educational journey, remember, giving up is never an option. Instead, hold fast to the adage, “When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.” Always keep your goals in focus while working towards them.

What are our expectations of you, our FST students?
You are expected to:
- Attend/participate in all your classes, be it virtually or face to face
- Complete and submit all your assignments on time (which accounts for 40% of your final grade)
- Complete your course of study within the prescribed time (usually 2 - 4 years)
In closing, I will leave a few words of advice with all:
- Try not to get lost online in this virtual learning environment
- Take responsibility for your learning
- Never leave a class with unanswered questions
- Do not allow the workload to pile up on you
- Do not allow procrastination to steal your time, use time wisely
- Do not be afraid to share your knowledge with others. There are sufficient A's for students in this faculty.
Finally, my FST students, I look forward to meeting you face to face some time soon, especially at our annual awards ceremony where those of you who would have worked hard and achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be rewarded by having your names placed on our prestigious Deans list.
