About Us

The Moneague College is a multidisciplinary tertiary institution committed to academic excellence, personal growth, and preparing students for success in a changing world. Since its establishment in 1956, the College has expanded from its roots in teacher education to offer a diverse range of programmes supported by strong student services, modern learning resources, and a vibrant campus community. Guided by its motto, “Soaring to the Heights of Excellence,” Moneague College continues to equip students with the knowledge, skills, values, and confidence needed to make meaningful contributions locally and globally.

Our History

From Teacher Training Roots to a Multidisciplinary Legacy of Excellence

Meeting the Needs of a Changing Jamaica

The College was first opened as a teacher training institution with 104 students under its first principal, Dr. Aubrey Phillips. Originally focused on preparing teachers in Primary and Early Childhood Education, the College gradually expanded its academic offerings in response to Jamaica’s changing educational and workforce needs.

In 1993, it became a multidisciplinary institution and a member of the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica, introducing programmes in areas such as business, computing, office administration, and management. Over the years, the College has continued to grow through new programmes, partnerships with local and international institutions, and the establishment of satellite campuses, while remaining committed to providing quality education and creating opportunities for student success.
